Who We Are
Alex Pilkington
Alex has a long tradition in the security and resilience sector. With over a decade's service in the Royal Marines, Alex retired as a Royal Marines Major to work in the high risk security industry. With nearly 20 years' experience as a security and resilience professional, Alex has worked across the globe at every level from operator to Operations Director and Board Member, guiding and mentoring organisations to better achieve their aims by designing, implementing and educating. Alex brings this wealth of experience to bear by learning about you and what you do so he can shape your policies and plans to work with your values, ethos, your people and your aims.
Alex has worked with Private Security Companies, Risk Management Consultancies, multi-national companies, NGOs and Ultra-High Net Worth families to help them be safer, more resilient and more efficient. He has assisted start up companies where there is an operations gap and analysed what they do and how they do it to make their successes more attainable.

Eco Tourist Resort - Latin America
In a bid to make their 5* resort more secure and prevent disruption form incidents at the estate, Alex provided remote and on-site consulting with one eye on aligning the resort with the community and another on leveraging 'soft' security.
The resort had no inherent risk management experience in its leadership and had no permanent need, so they reached out to fill a gap and help them prepare the foundations and awareness of security challenges and how to meet them.
Alex analysed their operation, their people and their culture as well as the environment in which they worked. In constant colaboration with the resort leadership, Alex designed a security plan which worked alongside the delicate tourist experience and the local community to reduce security issues by increasing the profile of the resort as a contributor to the local economy and making it less attractive to security threats.

Startup C-Suite Operational Advice - UK
Alex advised the Board of a new company operating in the risk management sector providing expertise in developing compliant operational procedures and processes as the new business rapidly grew. Ever aware of the highly regulated industry and the importance of delivering service excellence, Alex designed project plans, compliant processes and mentored an inexperienced team of new staff to deliver across a range of services.

Writing the technical competitive tenders himself and reintroducing pride in delivering best in class services, Alex assisted the organisation to thrive again, trebling turnover and increasing net profit by streamlining overhead to deliver more, better, with the same headcount.

NGO Board Director - Afghanistan
Alex travelled to Kabul to lead the Security and Resilience Team as the national Director of Operations for a large, multinational NGO in the health and female empowerment space. This, at a time when the threats and risk to the organisation and its people was growing exponentially.
Following the increase in threats against the NGO, Alex tackled the difficult balance of providing robust security with the sensitive delivery of women's reproductive health aid across 17 provinces of Afghanistan.
By providing training and empathetic mentoring to security personnel and local health practitioners, Alex presided over 4 years of operations recording zero fatalities or injuries and earning accolades from Afghans and expats for helping them feel more safe and better able to deliver their aid.
